The Department tasks:

1. Scientific and methodological support for the implementation of the state youth policy, including the main activities of the system of education and ideological work of institutions of higher education of the Republic.
2. Regulatory support of activity of educational structures in higher education.
3. Implementation of training and improvement of pedagogical competence of participants of educational process in institutions of higher education of the country.
4. Providing information and advisory support to the participants of the educational process on the implementation of the state youth policy and improvement of ideological and educational activities in higher education.
5. Timely organizational support within its competence of measures to implement the state youth policy, as well as ideological and educational work in the higher school of the Republic.
6. Coordination of educational and ideological structures of higher education institutions of the Republic of Belarus to implement and improve educational and ideological work with students in accordance with state priorities, state youth policy in the Republic of Belarus.
7. Analytical support of ideological and educational work of the higher school of the Republic of Belarus.
8. Promotion and dissemination of positive pedagogical experience in the field of ideology and education of students.
9. Forecast and planning of development of system of ideological and educational work in institutions of higher education of the Republic in the context of the state youth policy.
10. Introduction of innovations in pedagogical activity of higher education institutions in the field of ideology and education of students.
11. Control and evaluation of educational and ideological structures of higher education institutions of the Republic of Belarus within its competence.
12. Identify the best and promote the encouragement and stimulation of participants in the educational process and student leaders.
