On November 20, 2025, a roundtable discussion on "The Role of UNESCO Chairs in the Development of Regional and International Inter-University Cooperation in Education and Science" was held at the Republican Institute of Higher Education as part of the XVII International Scientific and Methodological Conference "Higher Education: Problems and Prospects." The roundtable was held under the auspices and support of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO.
Representatives of all UNESCO Chairs at higher education institutions in the Republic of Belarus participated in the roundtable.
Welcoming remarks were addressed by Natalia Sergeevna Schasnovich, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO, and Elizaveta Borisovna Savanovich, Consultant of the Higher Education Department of the Main Directorate of Professional Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
Inga Nishanyan, Distinguished Speaker, UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Program Coordinator, and Senior Program Specialist of the "Future of Education and Innovation" Program of the Education Sector of the UNESCO Secretariat, spoke about the priority goals and promising areas for the development of UNESCO Chairs worldwide.
Ksenia Aleksandrovna Gaverdovskaya, Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Secretariat of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO), spoke about current trends in the development of the UNESCO Chair network in the Russian Federation.
Lyudmila Sergeevna Kozhukhovskaya, Head of the UNESCO Chair, Vice-Rector for International and Scientific-Methodological Work at the Republican Institute of Higher Education, and PhD in Cultural Studies, made constructive proposals for optimizing the joint work of UNESCO Chairs in the Republic of Belarus and their participation in various events.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer discussion among the participants.
